I need to scan documents to word as editable text documents. When I try to do
this word does not recognize some of the original text of the document
including straight lines. It substitutes giberish making the document
useless. It is not the soffware that came with my scanner but a problem with
word.
I have no problem buying word 2003 but I have no idea if this will fix the
situation.I am having a problem getting my mind around a document program
that doesn't actualy allow accurate scanning of documents.

It's not a problem with Word or with the scanner, it's with the OCR (optical
character recognition) software that you are using. The better (for better
read more expensive) the OCR, the better the recognition will be.
If you are using the application that was provided free with the scanner,
think about purchasing some REAL OCR software.... but it can be expensive if
it's good.

crazier than I usualy am.I was told that there is no OCR that I can buy and
I was stuck using the one provided by HP.Would you make some suggestions on
what 's available for purchase?
Thank you again
