I got this error one day.
stop: c0000218 {registry file failure}
The registry cannot load the hive(file)
Anyway I checked this website for a fix and found the
exact fix I needed. But when typing in the items needed
the system said it could not find the file
\windows\repair\system.
Now it can't load and let me finish fixing the problem.
Is there some how I can load this file off of the XP CD to
finish this repair? This is all so I can recover some
Works documents(I hope!) Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

This is the process I used. But when I tried to copy the
\window\repair\system, the computer said it could not find
it. This is the problem now. Is there a way to copy that
file from the XP disk to finish process.
Thanks

No. If the file is lost you can try using the System Restore tool and
if this does not help also and you do not have an ASR backup to
restore you have to reinstall Windows.
