I was browsing this support group because of an XP
performance problem. My new 2.4G laptop with XP pro is as
slow as mud. PC Magazine reports it's a known problem
with Service Pack 1 installed, but that Microsoft denies
it. I was hoping that I might find a fix since the
machine, as it came from Dell, isn't configured to remove
SP1. Anyway, the security patches that are a part of SP1
are reputed to be a cause, and judging by my brand new
133MHz-equivalent machine, they have it right.

Peter
