XP Screen Saver Will Not Activate

I have loaded XP Profesional and all is well except the Screen Saver will not
activate.. I can go into Display, select a screen saver, preview it and click
apply, but it will not come on the screen at the time I select. When I go
back into display and select Screen Saver, there it is working fine on the
preview.
What do I need to do to get it to come on my monitor screen?

Are you "blanking out" the screen before the screen saver starts. Check your
timings for everything in power options.
