When I tried to do a restore to an earlier restore point, I get a message
saying that my system can't be restored. I've tried several restore points,
and get the same message. What should I do now?

No real options, other than to do a reset of System Restore points.
That's the issue with System Restore - while the calendar may show
points extending back for weeks or months, there is no integrity check.
Only when it's called on do you discover it's inability to restore the PC.
In this case, you simply turn off System Restore from the Properties of
My Computer, System Restore (TAB) - reboot and then re-enable it.
Best to also lower it's disk reservation to a % that won't allow it to save
points extending too far back in time.
