View Full Version : Startup problems in XP - need help

Hi.

Lately when I startup my computer, it does some strange
things:
First, it often gets completely stuck the 1st time around,
so I have to manually restart.
The second time around, it usually gets up to either disk
check or the Enter Your Password screen, and then does an
automatic reboot and gets as far as disk checking again.
In disk checking, it gets pretty far (80-something
percent), then tells me that "The size of the Windows
wiasrvc.log is not valid." - and then seems to work fine.

Any clues what could be wrong or how to fix it?

Thanks,
Michelle

Faulty or poorly seated RAM can cause a lot of strange problems. Spontaneous
reboots are one problem and frequent lockups are another. Check your RAM
