When trying to fix a previous problem, I deleted my user

and they are VERY important.

Can someone PLEASE help me???

I regret to inform you that when you delete a User Account,
and ignore the message to backup the account's files, those
files are permanently deleted from your computer.

Sure...for the next time. Lesson learned: Making dumb
mistakes in a "dumbed-down" computer system is usually
catastrophic. Next time around, set up discrete folders
for important data, information, etc., outside of My
Documents and keep these folders backed up.

Stop using the computer until you try some data recovery options. Here
are some utilities that might help, but there is no guarantee. There
are also data recovery services such as at www.ontrack.com or
www.drivesavers.com, but know that this is _very_ expensive.

Huh - Accidentally ? - XP offers up a Keep/Delete files option on the
removal of accounts. For the Profile tree to be gone, you must have
answered that question. Also you would have had to working from
another account to have removed your primary day-to-day profile.
Have you looked in Documents & Settings (w/ Show Hidden, System
and Protected files enabled) ?

For some reason, I missed the "backup" prompt.

No

Hi,

I suppose Active@ undelete might help you. Anyway, it worked perfectly
for me and IMHO it has the most powerful restore methods. Give it a
try, I suppose you won't regret it.

You can also try recovering under pure DOS, for this purpose Uneraser
is great.

Hey foster I did the same exact thing you did! I accidentally deleted very
important files because I deleted a user account. I'm very angry. I don't
understand how windows xp allows all files to be deleted and not be able to
recover them.

Whenever I accessed my "important files" I always used 'windows explorer' no
matter what account was logged on (i.e. wife's or mine). But, since my
'important files' were placed under my account folder they were all deleted
when I deleted my user account. It doesn't make sense to be able to access
files from more than one user account yet have them deleted by deleting only
one of the user accounts.

Someone please explain to me the logic.

The logic lies in always having a current, full and complete backup.
Mistakes happen, drives fail, people click the wrong thing. Data loss
is not a matter of if but when.
