View Full Version : Atomic Tine Sync

I am looking for a utility (preferably free) that will
synchronize my WinXP Pro machine with an NST Atomic Clock
hourly (at a minimum). I heard there was a PowerToy that
would help, but can't find it. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks!
Steve

Hi Steve,

Why not just use the one included with XP.

Right click the clock and sellect Adjust Date-Time

I have mission critical apps that must be within +/- 1
second of the atomic clock. That's why I have to have it
automatically update every hour at a minimum.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the feedback, I missed that important point. Have to be more
carefull.

One program you may like is TClock2. It will allow you to set the update to
60 minutes or less and will set the clock display just about any way you can
think of.

Hope this helps
Richard

You can change the interval in Windows XP own Internet Time by

Opening regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\W32Time\TimeProviders\N
tpClient
the key is SpecialPollInterval
the value is in seconds
so to have Windows own Internet Time Sync update every hour change the
SpecialPollInterval to 3600 (60 sec * 60 mins = 1 hour)

Forgot to add, that settings will take effect next time the computer is
rebooted.

I like Atomic TimeSync (clever name huh?) from AnalogX:
www.analogx.com
Click on "Network" under the Software list on the left.

It's small, free, no bells & whistles, does the job and keeps it's mouth
shut. AnalogX also has some other clever stuff too.

Thanks graham

Also he could:
Save to a .reg file the text between the ----------------s
Change 00015180 (daily) to 00000e10 for hourly

----------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\W32Time\TimeProvide=
rs\NtpClient]
"SpecialPollInterval"=3Ddword:00015180
# EOF
