This happens quite frequently in Dell computers. There is
no real fix except to get rid of the machine and get
something else or you can suffer having to pull out the
paperclip and pop the tray open. You will then have to
reboot if you wish to use the CD again.

I know this is a regular occurance on Dell machines and
their customer support is terrible on the subject. They
will tell you to reset the NVRAM which, on a Dell is
similar to scrambling your harddrive.
I have heard of this happening to HP machines but have not
had any in shop show this problem.
Also if you are using Roxio there are other issues
regarding the locking of the drive during an incomplete
session. DirectCD may also be the culprit.
I do not have this issue on any but the Dell systems in
house. Some are using Roxio and others use Nero.
