I recently purchased a new computer that has Windows XP
Home Edition on it. I want to install an older version of
Microsoft Office 97 Small Business Edition. With this
work?

I installed Office 97 on my XP system, so I expect you can also.

Yes you can................
and if you run into any software that is not designed for XP, sometimes you
can trick it into thinking its running on a Windows 9X machine by using the
compatibility feature of XP, it's real easy to use and is about 50/50
effective.

Greetings --
It may work, technically, as Office 97 is compatible with WinXP.
However, Office Small Business Edition is available only as an OEM
license, which means that it is permanently bound to the first PC on
which it is installed, and that it may not legally be transferred to
any other computer.
