This happened once I added my computer to a workgroup. Go
to Start/Control Panel/User Accounts/Change the way users
logon. uncheck, the boxes...i think. I don't have my xp
box in front of me so just work around in there.

It just lets me change the screen I use to log in; not eliminate it. Thanks
anyhow.

Go Start|Run type in "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and hit
Enter. Uncheck the box which states "Users must enter a user name and
password to use this computer". Now your computer should boot straight into
Windows :-)

Making progress of sorts. I did what you suggested.
Now it comes up and says it cannot continue because the password is wrong.
Pushing enter gives the same error.
I was in a total panic until I thought of replacing "adminstrator" with my
name. Pushing enter got me in.

How do I make it default to me, rather than administrator. It used to do
that. Thanks.
