Ihave in the last month replaced both the cartridges for the machine to non
HP copies as they both ran out after almost a year since purchase. Yes I
don't print alot. I bought and wanted to install a 58 photo cartridge but the
printer refused to recognize it. Now it also gives an error message for the
regular 57,56 ones . I did print a little between tring to install and this
problem so it maybe coincidence and unconnected. Trying to remove one doesn't
seem to solve the problem and of course removing both nix too. Would
appreciate any ideas.

Open the printer and clean out the socket where the cartridges are inserted
with a Q-tip and denatured alcohol (isopropyl), not whiskey. Clean it good
and make sure it is dry. Do a printhead alignment and print a test page.
It you get no results or cartridges are not accepted, you'll need to
completely reinstall the printer from scratch in accordance with the
accompanying
software and installation CD.
