same thing for me and Im on DSL, makes it worthless. cant
seem to find anyone that knows anything. Its got to be
XP. I found Im slowing completely about every 3 min for
about 30-40 sec. I want to chain saw this junk and I just
got a new dell Inspiron 8500 laptop. Dell tells me to do
a system restore, but I.ve had this problem since may and
can only go back to June 18. Try system restore. They
also sent me junk about using sysconfigure, but it
disables printing, internet and other stuff. plus the
document they sent applies to 98 and ME. idiots. Oh, my
virus (McAffee) was causing an incomplete shutdown. I was
having to disconnect the battery because it was hungup in
the final window. But they also suggest not letting your
virus software or popup killers or any thing run in the
background, so try that. finally get a spybot killer.
spybots are installed in your system when you surf and
they send info about what your doing and may slow the net
down. I had to kill spybots then get rid of the software
since it runs in the background. good luck
