stuck in hibernation

I upgraded to WinXP Pro from Me on an emachines 633
Celeron computer. Now when I turn off the computer and
attempt to reboot the computer is stuck in hibernation. I
am unable to exit hibernation and the computer is locked.
Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a fix?

Hold F8 at Startup and from the Menu select Safe Mode. If winxp will boot
in safe mode then go to control panel>
power options>hibernate and uncheck Enable Hibernation
