I'm teed off and I want to complain to someone :-)
I have a new computer that came with this XP stuff and I
keep getting those pop up messages telling me where to go
to buy something to get rid of them.
At first I could click the X or the OK and it would go
away...after a while this didn't work.
AOL finally solved it..going into control panel and
disabling it.
I resent the fact that if I hadn't been lucky and found
the right answer I might have been sucked into paying
27.95 for a software fix.
No wonder so many people hate Microsoft...it's little
things like this that give it a bad name.

Lee;
Messenger Service is a very valuable tool for some.
The fact you got the messages showed you do not have an effective
firewall or it is configured incorrectly.
AOL is not compatible with the firewall provided with Windows XP.
If AOL had you disable Messenger Service to solve the problem, you are
mistaken.
You have covered the symptom but the unprotected computer remains.
Get a firewall or call back AOL to do their job properly.
