I need to convert DVD files to a .WMV presentation. So, I would very much
appreciate suggestions as to how to go about that.

Do a Google search on video converters. The list is extensive.

Actually, I knew about Google searches, and I'd already tried that. BUT
that produces, as you said, am extensive list. However, most of it
advertises slick looking software with free downloads and all, but in my
experience most of that software is little more than poorly conceived junk,
the operation of which is not intuitively obvious, and the documentation, if
any, is utterly worthless. And, it takes a great deal of time to wade
through all that tripe in an effort to find something worthwhile.
So, I was hoping to gain feedback from folks who have experience with
reliable conversion software, who could suggest specific packages.
