I just noticed I have 16 folders under the Windows folder
that all start with $NtuninstallQ......$ Also they are
colored blue rather than black. They are links and I'm
afraid to click them for fear they are viruses or
something else bad. Every one has a sub folder under it
named spuninst also in blue and a link. Anyone know what
these are and how to get rid of them if need be

Hotfixes" are the updates you installed from the Windows Update
website. Do not be tempted to remove them or you will uninstall
the actual update.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)=20
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's=20
excellent website for instructions.

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix =
entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the=20
actual updates.

Oh boy! So, you're bucking for ****wit of the week, eh?

The OP described the folders exactly as you did on the part I snipped, =
yet somehow you start off your reply with this ****ed in the arse reply, =
as if they are the updates themselves! It's one thing to be confused =
going through life, but please don't punish the poor chap for your =
confusion.

Lighten up Ted. I understood perfectly what Nicholas
said. Does that make me co-****wit of the week? What a
douche. You didn't help me. Do you cruise the
newsgroups just waiting to pounce on someone?

Hi,
Those folders contain uninstall information for the OS hotfixes/updates you
have on your PC. They are required if you decide to uninstall those
hotfixes/updates in future. You can keep them - no harm. And they are in
blue because their content has been compressed by WinXP to save disk space.

Ok, then you're gormless also! What this means (to you for example), is =
that if 1+1=3D3, then that is a correct sum!

Adding won't help you, refer to my first statement!
