Hi August,
I experienced the exact same problem you have, Skips
fix works but he left 1 step out, try the following:
1. Go to Start/Run and type "cmd" and press enter
2. In the DOS window type "cd c:\" press enter
(This step changes your directory to the C:\)
Insert your Windows XP CD
3. At the C:\ prompt now type "sfc/scannow" press enter
This will compare your files on the CD with the files on
your computer and should restore any corrupted ones.
I ran this process on a 2Gig CPU and a 52x CD drive and
it took about 20 minutes with continuous CD access. Hope
this helps.
