Hi i am in the process of copying my dvd collection. Only problem is that windows XP says i can only change dvd regions 4 times before having the drive locked into a region. I have now changed regions on 2 occassions.

Has anyone found a way to unlock the dvd firmware once it has been locked without getting the manufacturer to reset it or have it replaced??????

Seems a bit of a con considering dvd's are so easily imported and often use differnet regional coding.

I'm in region 4 but have now copied region 2 and now 1 discs so i only have 2 more changes allowed. Would like to get around this issue without having the manufacturers involved.

Any help would be great.

Carey's reference (DVDidle) is one of several products that work well.
Another is Anydvd.

Just so that you understand, this is more than just a firmware issue.
There are quite a few region-free firmware updates available for
download. However, some of the more popular players also have software
region detection logic, so even if the hardware will not complain, the
software will. Products like the two mwntioned here take care of all
issues, AND make it unnecessary for you to flash your firmware. Very
convenient.
