My delete key has stopped working and I need an

Don't you have a second Del-key in your numpad? It usually is situated under
the dot... Don't forget to disable numlock!

it is a laptop, not a desktop with a numpad, it is an
compaq presrio 700. Is there another on a laptop
keyboard? I guess implied in what you are saying, if I
boot it with a keyboard attached, that will help? I'd
have to let the battery run out to get it to reset, or
push the reset key.
