Problem with video codecs...

I can't see at all with any of my players any .avi .mpg file that require
codecs such as Divx and Xvid... When i try to open them the system
crashes... i have tried to change very kind of codecs but nothing changes...

I have installed a new Nvidia GeForce 6200 since my last perfect operating
system... I also have installed all the 84updates for the service pack1
available on windows update... I really think that this could have
compromised...

a) An MPEG1 file does not require additional codecs

b) An MPEG2 file requires DVD decoding codecs

c) An xVid and/or DiVX file does require codecs... the best ones are
available from www.xvid.com and www.divx.com. Codec packs are dangerous
things..... too many codecs and nothing will work. They also often cause
the PC to crash.

d) If you installed SP2, you would not require most of the 84 updates after
SP1, as they are included in SP2. SP2 also includes SP1.

I already knew unfortunately... I was just looking for someone that could
save myself from the format process :-D
I haven't installed SP2 because last time gave me some problems when windows
started...

There's been an issue with the Navida G Force Graphics card.
If you havent already done so go to Navida's site and install any updates to
the drivers for your Graphics Card.
Also you may need to flash your bios if its flashable.
If you do be very carefull cause if its not done properly it can ruin your
bios.

You answered your own question..."i have tried to change very kind of codecs
but nothing changes"... you have obviously installed one or more of the
nasty codec packages on the internet.
You should only use codecs from known reputable sites.
