I just attached a 160GB hardrive I took out of my desktop and am using it as
an external hardrive for my laptop. When I try to open a movie I edited on my
desktop I get an error message saying I don't have rights to use, it is
already open,is corrupt.
Please help.

Have you "taken ownership" of all the files on the external drive?
