install xp

I just put a new mother board (amd athlon 2400) on my
computer and it works very well and i have no problem
installing and running windows 98 however i cannot install
windows xp upgrade it just stops responding (hangs) and
will not go any futher. What can i do?

From the Windows 98 desktop, place the XP CD in the drive, when the setup
screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility," this may give a clue as
to what might be causing the issue.
