My laptop is an HP zv5220us and I use XP.SP2.

When I try to power down I receive a message that eabservr.exe is not
responding. Also, occasionally nothing happens when I hit the Turn Off
button. The only way I can power down is to disconnect the power cord and
then remove the battery for 10-15 seconds.

My tower PC has a similar but not so severe problem. Here the non responsive
program is sygtray.exe but I can get the PC to shut down normally after the
non responsive message has been acknowledged.

Anyone know how I can correct one or both of these problems?

Peter.
