Odds are you're getting an error of some sort (GPF type
error - Check your Event Viewer to verify). XP's default
action is to automatically reboot the system when one of
these types of error occur. This action can be disabled
(Right click My Computer, go to Advanced tab. Click
Startup and Recovery button, uncheck "Automatically
restart" under System failure).
This will stop the rebooting 99.999% of the time.
