Windows Task manager

When I open the task manager, how can I tell which
programs are unwanted and which keepers.

There seems to be very limited info and I don't want to
stop valuable programs while wanting to rid the system of
the junk. Thanks

Since every Windows XP startup programs differ, you would have to
list your programs before anyone can help you.
