Upgraded to XP from ME

Have you tried going to contol panel and using "add new
hardware"? You may also have to download a driver from
the manufacturers web site, if the dvd isn't being
recognized

PS. I also just upgraded from ME. I found that a clean
install removed all of my errors and unwanted programs
which I downloaded from the web. The system runs much
better. This requires that you copy all of your wanted
files (Photos, Address book and other desirable files)
to a CD or other media and then formatting your hard
drive. You can then reload the files. This may also
solve your initial problem. Good luck
