View Full Version : SVCHOST Leaking Memory

Whenever I start my computer, SVCHOST.EXE under the
user of LOCAL SERVICE begins to use more and more memory.
Eventually, I will get a Virtual Memory Low error.
However, if I use the Task Manager to end that process,
everything is fine. This doesn't seem to affect anything
else. I run virus scan at least once daily and keep the
list updated.
Any suggestions on what is at the root of this?

1. Your computer may contain a virus.....

You may wish to perform a "tune-up" that may help:

1. Perform a DISK CLEANUP:
(Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup)

2. Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. In the Command
Prompt window type: CHKDSK /F , and hit enter, answer "yes" and
reboot your computer.

3. Afterward, perform a DEFRAG of your hard drive.
