You can purchase excel as a single program from your local computer supplier
or as part of a package with office.

Excel 97 should have no problems with windows xp. Just pop the cd in and
install it.

"It"? There is no special Excel for Windows XP. All versions of
Excel, starting with Excel 95, work under Windows XP.

No special way is needed. If you have Excel 97, simply install
it.

And by the way, please don't yell at us. We can hear you if you
type normally.

If you simply need to view excel files then you can get a free viewer from
here http://www.microsoft.com/office/000/viewers.asp

If you need spreadsheet software then you can purchase Excel as part of an
Office Suite or as a stand-a-lone application. An alternative is to use Calc
which is part of the free Open Office suite. It can open and save as Excel
documents. It is a 50MB download though but well worth the investment if you
don't have a few hundred dollars to shell out for the Microsoft equivalent
