HELP! I recently bought Star Wars Galaxies. I needed to
upgrade my computer in order to play it. I bought a 512
MB RAM card and a PNY Technologies Verto GEFORCE2 MX400
video card that runs on an NVIDIA driver.
It was discovered upon installation of the new RAM card
that the second RAM slot has burnt out and the computer
will not even start up if anything is installed in it.
Thus, instead of using the original 128MB Ram card, I
installed the 512.
Because my computer has XP, and I had left the computer
with a tech to figure out why it wouldn't start, he could
not get into the accounts to install the drivers. I did
that when I got home on the administrators account.
I discovered the problem when I tried to log off. On my
account and my nieces account, the screen appears normal,
but on the administrators account, the entire start
taskbar has disappeared.
If I click on Shortcut to Control Panel, it will not
open up the taskbar/start menu option. Its as if it
doesn't exist.
Can anyone give me a hand with this?

Short of it actually being off of the screen or on autohide (test this
by hitting the windows key) then my guess is explorer is not starting
on boot.

I would go into msconfig (if there is no start menut search for it I
think it is in c:\windows ) and make sure that explorer is checked to
start amongst other things in there.

p.s not talking internet explorer, windows explorer.
