Unable to view a DVD. Audio capabilities are present, but not video. Have
downloaded several codecs, some decoders and a few other updates to Windows
Media Player (version 10), but am unable to resolve this recently acquired
problem. Thank you in advance for suggestions.

First of all you don't need many codecs on your PC and too many will cause
problems.
You do need a DVD decoder such as WinDVD or PowerDVD... and you need to
ensure your graphics card's drivers are up to date.

Never ensure your graphic's card drivers is up to date. This is a terrible
mistake and only clueless rookies suggest this course of action.
