Laptop won't go into standby or hibernation

Every time I try to get my computer to go into standby
mode I nget this error massage.

"The device driver for the standard 101/102 key or MS
natural PS/2
keyboard device is preventing the machine from
entering hibernation
or standby. Please close all applications and try
again."

I just can't seem to get this to work.
I have windows XP, 256 ram
Any help would be appriciated

How old is your Laptop? Might be a Bios Issue.
