Hello all:
Recently encounter a strange problem. Don't know how it started but now
when I double click on a file folder instead of open it, it goes to search!
Later I found out somehow in window explorer's tool->folder option-> file
type-> file folder->advance button. My default action is set on search, but
there is no open or explore action on there for me to set back (although when
I right click on a folder it will still appears open and explore). So if
anyone have any information regarding it, I will greatly appreciated it.
Thank You!

So add &Open to list and set it as default.

This problem occurs when you alter the "Drive" / "File Folders" entries via
File Types dialog, to add a "Command Prompt here" or "Print Directory"
feature for folders. (example)

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321186
Resolution:
Click Start/Run and type this command to fix this problem:
(Tip from David Candy)
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
-or-
Fix "Search" Opens Instead of Explorer:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_folder_open.htm
-or-
To fix this manually via registry:
If this problem is seen for Drives:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Set (default) to "none" (without ")
If this problem is seen for folders:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell]
Set (default) to "none" (without ")

That would only add to the OP's problems.
