I have a Dell running XP Pro. Regular updates, 2 Spybot scanners, commercial
Antivirus, surge suppressor. It runs continuously. About 2 weeks ago, it
started slowing down as it does occasionally, so I rebooted, as I do every
few weeks to clear everything out. It hangs at the XP screen with the
progress bar running. I can F8 to last good configuration and it works fine.
Is there any way, some sort of log file or something, to determine what the
problem is and fix it?

Thank you in advance,
Richard

In msconfig at least, there is /bootlog safe mode option under boot.ini
tab.
start>Run>msconfig

Possibly smae feature when booting into F8 safe mode.

might also, want to run chkdsk/r
