My XP operating system recognizes the two CD drives (CD-ROM & CD-RW). Within
realplayer or itunes I can open and close the cd drawers. But I cannot read
any cd from either player. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the hardware. I
tried updating the drivers - the drivers there are the ones that XP thinks
work best.
I physically took removed the data ribbons and reversed the primary and
secondary IDE ribbons - no difference - everything works. I've deleted old
drivers from Roxio easy cd creator. I found a driver from Gearsoft, moved
it, and neither drive was visible to the operating system. I reinstalled it
and downloaded some drivers from gearsoft. In the device manager driver tab
for both cd drives there are five lines - cdrom.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys,
storprop.dll and GEARAspiWDM.sys.
I'm at a loss. I hope I've provided enough information for someone to help...
Thank You
