I noticed my computer running very slow. Then I decided to
check out the prefetch folder. I had been deleting the
files in the folder at least once a week. But now for some
reason no new files are being added. I went into the
registry to see if the prefetch was enabled,it was. I
would like to know how to activate the prefetch again. If
anyone knows how to do this send me an email.

Tom,

Have you disabled (turned off) Task Scheduler?

I am having this same issue.
I recently installed an A7N8X Deluxe Rev. 2 motherboard,
and did a fresh format/install of Home XP, and noticed
things moving sluggishly, when I checked the Prefetch
folder, there was nothing in it.
I have checked the registry entries and the prefetcher is
enabled to (3)-system and program files, but it is not
working.
Task Scheduler is enabled.
Is there a way to install just the files/registries
needed to get it working without having to do a 'Repair'
or a reinstall?
