Creating space for software download

I need to redownload the Java software that is needed to
access certain internet games. When I tried to download
it, it said that I did not have enough free space to
download correctly. I ran the disc cleanup, ran a
defrag, checked for programs that could be deleted- I
just do not know what else to do! How can I create
enough space so that I can properly download Java
software?
