I thought I had mouse problems

I thought my mouse was going south- the right click button was not always
selecting when clicked. I've had mice do this before.

Upon closer inspection- it seems that some mouse tasks are fine- its
selection of menu items that the mouse button doesnt seem to cooperate- it
seems like there is a problem with accessing menu selections, where
hypertext links are fine, highlighting and selecting text are fine- it just
seems like the computer is "frozen" when it comes to menu selections.

Anyone have any ideas what could have happened the past two days to cause
this?
