I get the following message on the Expert's computer when Remote Assistance
is attempted:
Remote Assistance cannot connect because <Novice computer> denied the
request for help
The steps that reproduce this are:
1) The request is initiated from the Novice' computer via MSN Messenger
7.5.
2) The connection is established and I get a black box (that I understand
should be turning into the end user's desktop).
3) After about sixty seconds, I get the error message.
4) Click OK to get rid of the error message and the entire process
terminates.
In all cases, the Expert's computer is wirelessly connected to the Internet
via an ActionTec WG701 wireless gateway and DSL.
It happens whether the Novice computer is on the home network (connected
wirelessly) and also running WindowsXP Home, or another computer connected
to the Internet via DSL and an Earthlink UHP DSL routerrunning either
WindowsXP Home *or* Professional.
All computers have SP2 and MSN Messenger 7.5 installed and operating
(contact lists and IM'ing work, both on the home network and the Internet).
Is Remote Assistance no longer supported in WindowsXP SP2?
