System File Checker

I am having problems with windows update for Windows XP
Home Edition. I was told to run the system file checker.
Where is it? Thanks.

Hi Vince

To run the SFC Scannow applet.

With Windows running,


Put your XP CD into the drive, when the Screem comes up click exit.


Click the start button, than run. Type in "sfc /scannow". (Without the
quotes) Please note that their is a "Space" between sfc and /scannow.



That will copy the .dlls to a cache in system32 and replace any
corrupted .dlls
