I have a windows media player file and I am trying to import it into Windows
Movie Maker and when I try to play the file an error message appears. Do I
need to convert the Winows Media Player File into another file type? And if
I do what do I need to do so?

What is the file extension of the file you are trying to import?

What is the exact text or the error message?

It is a MPG File that I am trying to import and error message states:
Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.

the error signature states:
AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.1.4026.0 ModName: ffdshow.ax
ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 0003c59f

Thank you for your help.

Convert it to WMV or AVI first. WMM sometimes has problems with MPEG files.
