We just installed windows xp on our computer and we have
like no programs at all installed on here yet. We don't
even have sound. So anyways, ever since we installed
Windows XP my Cd-rom isn't working. I tryed putting my cd
with pictures on it, but the rom didn't run or even make
any noise, the yellow light that say it's working went on
only for 2 seconds. I tryed other CD's but they don't work
either. Do I have to install anything to make it work? My
burner isn't working either...But they did before. PLease
tell what i can do or try, anything would help, thank you

Didn't it work when you were installing WinXP? If you did an upgrade
and they are showing up in My Computer, I would
try uninstalling them from Device Manager and let WinXP reinstall them.

Check the cabling for the two devices, and also, see if they are detected in
the BIOS. If they aren't, it's really unlikely that XP will find them.
