After loading defrag from xp home, norton systemworks, or
command prompt the CPU hit 99% and that's it. I have
eased my hard drive 25% still the CPU hits the limit.
This is on a P-3 550 384Ram. Any ideas would be
appreciated.

I'm not really understanding what you mean by CPU hitting
limit, what is using at 99%?Your system or a program?99 is
good at idle if that is what you mean.Did you do a disk
cleanup and/or a check disk before defrag?Did you try
defrag in safe mode? Virus scan? Give it another
try...Good luck.
