Secondary IDE Channel

My CD drive stopped working. After several hours of
troubleshooting I discovered that I no longer have a
secondary IDE channel. Both it and the Cd driver were
removed about a month ago, but the problem only started
last week.

How do I reinstall the secondary IDE channel and CD drive?
