Not Available For Edit~Please HELP!!

I am trying to open up a file that needs editing.
I keep getting a message that says this document is
unavailable to edit. I can't cut and paste it into word
either. In fact, word isn't even set up to edit any
documents and I don't know why. Any help would be very
appreciated. How can I change this setting so I can edit?

Shana, try rt clicking the file and select properties. then uncheck read
only at the bottom.
