Neither the "shutdown" or "restart" option works. I have
to unplug the computer. It is a brand new computer from
HP. Help!! I have gone to the system config and
disabled everything that is not necessary and the same
problem occurs.

My Norton Disk utility finds one problem with
windows/system32 that it can not resolve with access to a
file but I am not sure what if anything that means.

In addition, my Word quit working (I have installed the
Office 2000 twice and only Word does not work.

Any suggestions kindly accepted.

Brand new computer = brand new computer warranty. Have you discussed
your problems with HP Tech Support?

Good luck
