I have a laptop in which I have a Sharp Aquos LCD TV connected to. The laptop
is running windows XP professional. When I try to play a dvd or video file on
the laptop and display it on the tv, the video is not being displayed.
Windows is being displayed on the tv but not the video. I tried this on a
different tv and a different laptop with the same config and the same
problem. Both tv's are high def tv's. I tried bringing down the resolution on
windows to see if that is the problem but that did not work. Any suggestions
from anyone?

thanks in advance

I had similar problem with my PC (WinXP Pro SP2, Ati Redeon9600se video
card with TV-out) months ago. I did the following steps and the killed
the problem:

With the TV connected and turned on, Rightclick the desktop ->
properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Overlay -> Clone mode options..
select "Theater Mode" under "Overlay Display Mode". Then the video
played in my PC with WMP10 also seen in the TV.

The wordings may not be exectly the same in your laptop due to hardware
differences. The main point is that you have to select "Theater Mode" or
the similar. Anyway You may try it. Hope this help, good luck!!

Depending on your graphics card software, if the above doesn't work, you can
also enable the tv as the primary monitor or turn down the hardware
acceleration on the graphics card.
