In theory it should be possible to record from VHS camcorder / video recorder
in to MoveMaker but when I try to capture I get two error messages. First:
"The video device is currently in use. Close any other application that is
using the device and try again". When I click OK to ethat I get a second
message: "The video device cannot be used at this time because there has been
an error starting the device".

There isn't anything else open - I'm at a loss, can anyone advise? Thanks

Need more info to be able to assist...

a) What analog hardware capture device are you using?

b) Did the hardware come with any other third party analog capture
software?

Hi, I've got a Pinnacle PCTV card and I've got some video in using ArcSoft
VideoImpressions 1.6 but it seems a bit quirky, hence I'd like to try Movie
Maker

Windows Movie Maker isn't really designed for capturing or editing analog
video, I'd try Video Impressions... or you might want to try the trial
versions of Cyberlink's PowerDirector (www.gocyberlink.com) or Intervideo's
WinDVD Creator (www.intervideo.com). I've had great results using both of
these.
