Drag and Drop

Any files (Word or Picture/Movie) that I drag and drop
between folders or onto my desktop appear to be
corrupting. Once I have moved them i am then unable to
open them, move them again or delete them. Word files
tell me that I do not have access privileges. Picture
files ask me to check that the disc is not full or write
protected or that the file is not in use.

When I click on properties for these files I also only get
the general tab.

Any ideas welcome.
