linux does not supporting with intel 845 motherboard

sir
i have p4 pc having intel 845 motherboard with one os
winXP.
when i tried to install redhat linux to the same system
it does not support the StartX. whenever i logon it
displys me the message " start x does not support so i
will close startx for now" and i have to press OK to start
in command mode.
what would be the reason?
